You may have heard of Sizzl, which was rolled out recently by Oscar Mayer as a real, actual dating app like Tinder, but made for bacon lovers.
Let’s do that again.
It was rolled out recently by Oscar Mayer as a real, actual dating app like Tinder, but made for bacon lovers.
It’s also a clever, if not overthought, ad campaign for its bacon product, which is “passionately cured” and “lovingly smoke-housed.”
Apparently you fill out a bacon questionnaire whose results then match you with compatible people. I’m not downloading the app because I’m married, but according to users on the iStore, it freezes constantly, and selection is sparse right now.
The dating app is evolving. Mega dating portals like Match and Chemistry are being pushed aside by the more immediate Tinder, which has taken over the millennial dating conversation with aim of a quick fling. This … Sizzl … thing won’t be around very long, but clearly the niche is being constructed around Tinder. Immediate romance. Devaluing of relationships.
