It hits the same marks as the 1984 original – the personalities (annoying goof, aloof smart guy, uber nerd, streetwise black person recruited midway through the film), the library, the subway train – and panders to the audience with a slow piano instrumental of the classic theme, leading to some ultra-modern bass-heavy remix.
This is Nostalgia 101, much like Netflix’s “Fuller House,” and every reboot and movie of 1990s television Nickelodeon is planning. Millennial-to-kid media is everywhere now. “Ghostbusters” will ensure it keeps going – while it may or may not be a good movie, it’ll certainly make money.
